How do we evaluate a piece of jewelry?

If you are interested in receiving an estimate before sending your jewelry to us for appraisal, please send an email to info@herdesignco.com with a high-resolution photo of the piece(s) and as much as possible of the following information: 

  • Your contact information.
  • Type of the metal: 24K - 22K - 18K - 14K - 10K - 9K  - Platinum or Silver.
  • Type of the Stone: Diamonds - Emerald - Ruby - Sapphire - Amethyst - Aquamarine...
  • Weight of the Stone: in Carat if known.
  • Weight of the Item(s): in Grammes (Grs), Pennyweights (Dwt) or Onces (Ozt).

Rarity:

Antique and Unique jewelry made and signed by renowned establishment, such as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arples, Tiffany, Bulgari and others, increases in value. Also, pieces with a documented history of a famous individual’s ownership are rare and particularly valuable.

Condition:

We expect to see some signs of wear on antique and estate jewelry; Jewelry in pristine condition is rare and commands a premium, where jewelry with apparent repairs and restoration and/or Alterations from the original can result in devaluation. However, all jewelry is valuable and is often worth more than you would expect. So please, do not hesitate to contact us to found out how much your estate is truly worth.
